BDA Staff Bios
Kirk Sprinkles, School Director
Former Broadway dancer and singer. Mr. Kirk Sprinkles
serves as the school director and dance instructor.
Mr. Sprinkles is a certified and accredited dance
educator with an extensive background in musical
theatre.
Mr. Sprinkles' credits include such acclaimed
productions as Tap Dogs (Broadway cast), A Chorus
Line (National tour), Radio City Music Hall's A Christmas
Spectacular (starring the Radio City Rockettes), as well
as numerous cruise lines, regional theatres, and
professional dance companies, both nationally and
internationally.
Most recently he has worked as a professional
choreographer for several cruise lines, theme parks,
and professional theatres, including serving as the
"in-house" choreographer and General Manager of the
Centennial Station Dinner Theatre in NC for three
years! Within that time he also co-owned and operated
a semi-professional performing arts center (the Carolina
Performing Arts Center) in Greensboro, NC. Many of Mr.
Sprinkles former students now attend such prestigious
schools as New York University (Tisch School of the
Arts), North Carolina School of the Arts, Marymount
Manhattan College, Northwestern University, Belmont
University, and American Music and Dramatic Arts
Academy, majoring in musical theatre and/or dance
performance.
Alton Cox, Artistic Director
Former Broadway singer and actor with a BA from
University of South Carolina. Mr. Cox heads the acting
and vocal disciplines at Broadway Dance Academy.
Member of the Actor's Equity Association.
Mr. Cox has worked as a professional singer/actor in the
Broadway scene for over 13 years.
Some of his many credits include: Phantom, Into the
Woods, The Merry Widow, Warsaw (original cast
recording), National Tour of Cinderella, The Gondoliers,
The Fantasticks, among many others. He has performed
internationally aboard cruise lines as a headlining
vocalist, as well as numerous prestigious theatres
across Europe.
For the past five or more years Mr. Cox has served as
the artistic director for the Centennial Station Dinner
Theatre (member of National Dinner Theatre Assoc.
And top 30 professional dinner theatres nationwide),
where he produced, directed, and musical directed over
20 main stage theatrical productions, including several
of his own music revues. He also served as
Co-Executive Director for the Carolina Performing Arts
Center in Greensboro, NC for nearly five years, where
he directed the vocal and acting departments.
Former students now attending: Carnegie Melon, NYU
Tisch School of the Arts, North Carolina School of the
Arts, Belmont University, and Northwestern University, all
majoring in music and/or theatre.
Carrie Strunsky - Dance Instructor
Ms. Strunsky serves as the FIRST STEPS Program
Instructor, specializing in ballet preparation.
She is a former company dancer of the High Point City
Ballet where she received her training for nearly twenty
years. She also attended the Carolina Performing Arts
Center under Mr. Sprinkles.
Intensive study programs include North Carolina School
of the Arts, Columbia City Ballet, and Arizona Ballet.
Carrie received her undergrad in Sports Therapy from
Elon University, where she also continued her dance
training. She now is working towards her Masters
degree at the Citadel.
Laura Noblin - Dance Instructor
Ms. Noblin at the young age of 16 apprenticed for the
renowned Houston Ballet Company in Houston, TX. She
was also fortunate enough to study intensively with
Geoffrey Ballet for several summer intensive programs.
She works full-time as the marketing director for
Chick-fil-A of Mt. Pleasant.
